FOOD FOR THOUGHT I've always wondered if there are foods that can actually improve your thought process. I've even wondered if there are foods that may be able to protect the brain for certain diseases. Including more tomatoes in your diet could help protect against the kind of free radical damage to cells which occur in the development of dementia, particularly Alzheimer's. Vitamin C can increase mental agility. One of the best sources of this vital vitamin are blackcurrants. Eating just a handful of pumpkin seeds a day is all you need to get your recommended daily amount of zinc, This helps enhance your memory and thinking skills. Last but not least, I love broccoli. Broccoli can enhance cognitive function and improve brain power. Being an adult can be extremely stressful at times. It can become really hard to balance everything that's gong on in your life. I've noticed that the more that I'm doing at once the more forgetful I become. I'll definitely be trying some of these foods after my next shopping trip.

  1. I've been paying a lot of attention, too, to getting the recommended vitamins and minerals into my diet. So I started taking those Alive multivitamins...and then stopped. It seemed like whenever I'd take them I got REALLY sick...all kinds of digestive issues. So no more Alive vitamins for me. I don't know what's in them that messes with my insides but even after stopping taking them for a couple of weeks my digestive system still feels off. I just hope I haven't done any permanent damage. Said all of that to say that I will be adding more fruits and veggies to my diet to supplement.

  2. Thanks for this reminder. I like broccoli too and just need to remember to serve it. I get into ruts and end up eating the same thing frequently. I will definitely need to get some pumpkin seeds, my brain needs the memory and thinking skills.

  4. I actually did some research on this a few years ago and tried a 10 day vegan cleanse which included food. The first 2 days I drank celery and cucumbers blended up well and I also ate salad with no dressing. The 3rd day I ate Quinoa, buckwheat, and baby buck Choy. The 4th day I ate a sweet potato (with nothing added) quinoa and buckwheat. I repeated this and by the 4th day I would say I felt better than I ever felt even when I was a teenager. It was so hard to do especially the first 2 days. The food choices in this cleanse provides all the vitamins and nutrients needed for the body. After this cleanse I slept well, had energy, my memory was superb. My mind was clear and I notice the emotional attitudes toward certain things went away. The purpose of this was to replenish the RBC to allow them to get more oxygen which creates more energy.
