Anytime I've started a diet I've always been told that I shouldn't eat bread. I've also heard that you don't have to stop eating bread. Then I've heard that it depends on the amount of bread that you eat. I've always loved bread and I'm the type of person that has to eat bread with everything.
The rate at which you lose weight by cutting out bread depends on the amount of bread you eat each day. The more bread you eat, the more pounds you can shed pounds by eliminating it from your diet. However, the food you use to replace bread also can affect your weight loss. Just cutting bread products will not melt away the pounds if you eat other foods of similar caloric value in place of the bread.
Caloric Deficit
It takes a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound of fat. While fast weight loss gives you a temporary sense of accomplishment, it rarely offers permanent results. For a better chance at achieving permanent weight loss without the constant feeling of deprivation and hunger, the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute recommends a safe weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week. A deficit of 500 calories a day equals 3,500 calories or 1 pound per week. Eliminating 500 calories each day may seem too difficult, but not all of the calories have to come from food. Cut out 250 calories per day and burn 250 calories by increasing your physical activity. When you cut bread from your diet, you also eliminate the extra calories you add with butter, margarine, mayonnaise and cheese.

I like bread, too. Specifically, bread and butter. I changed the type of bread I eat after finding out that white bread turns to sugar. Now I only eat 100% wheat bread during most of the year. During the holidays, I stuff myself with dinner roles and you know what that means...January 1st is diet time :)
ReplyDeleteI only eat wheat bread because white bread have 100% of calories. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI cut bread as much as possible from my diet. If I buy a hamburger, I peel off excess bread and usually throw away at least one bun. I do love bread but most carbs don't like me back. I try to limit myself just to good carbs. One alternative I have found is sold at HyVee. There are called something Pops. I can't remember the exact brand name. I find them near the bakery section. They are about the size of a tortilla in width and a bit thicker with the consistency of a rice cake. So it is crunchy. I can put peanut butter and jelly (Smuckers has one made with stevia) on it & yum. It's not bread but it is a substitute.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could see your picture
